Maine Newsroom is an independent online journalism project created to help Mainers who don’t actively follow the news stay aware of important events that affect them. 65 percent of Americans actively avoid news about politics and government, which, while understandable, is absolutely devastating for the future of our communities.

Maine Newsroom is not affiliated with any media corporation or political party, and while it does not claim to be without bias, its reporting is limited to verifiable facts. Although the individual who reports the news on this platform is a trained, formerly credentialed journalist with hundreds of bylined stories in newspapers and on news websites, his anonymity — MY anonymity — is maintained because this is not my full-time job; for the safety of my family; to minimize the potential for politically motivated unlawful attacks; and because the facts should be able to stand on their own.
