Early Vote Tracker

Built from the Maine Secretary of State's absentee voter files for the 2026, 2024 and 2022 general elections, and the list of active registered voters as of March 7, 2026. Each voter is counted once: when a replacement ballot was issued, only the latest ballot counts.

“Returned” means accepted by the clerk. In-person early votes count as returned on the day they were cast. “Still out” means issued and not yet returned, rejected or pending cure. Past elections are lined up by days before Election Day (Nov. 8, 2022; Nov. 5, 2024; Nov. 3, 2026). Ballots that arrived more than 50 days out are counted at day 50.

Party is enrollment, not how anyone voted. 2024 ballots from No Labels voters are included only when every party is selected. Before 2026 the state did not separate drop-box returns from hand delivery, so past years are compared on totals only. Active voter counts are from March and do not include voters who registered since. This year's file lists 66 unorganized townships on their own (about 500 ballots); the enrollment list and past files count those voters under nearby towns, so those rows show no comparison.
